Elizabeth Kaback, MD

A member of the Division of Cardiology at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines, Dr. Elizabeth Kaback received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She completed both an internship and residency in categorical internal medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, where she also earned a fellowship in heart failure/transplant in the Division of Cardiology. A second fellowship in general cardiology was completed in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA. A recipient of the George E. Hewitt Foundation for Medical Research award and a joint appointment as a research associate at The Scripps Research Institute enabled her to continue basic scientific research in the field of cardiovascular disease.

In 2002 Elizabeth relocated to Seattle, WA where she had an office and hospital based general cardiology practice at The Polyclinic and Swedish Medical Center. At The Polyclinic she became the director of the anticoagulation clinic and established a lipid clinic. She returned to Scripps Clinic in 2006 to pursue interests in integrative medicine and research.

Currently Elizabeth practices general cardiology at The Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. Her interests include primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases particularly in the fields of heart failure, coronary artery disease, and lipid management. In addition she has an interest in diagnostic imaging and basic research. Integrating her interests in basic research with innovative ways to motivate patients to achieve optimal health and healing are her passions.
