Dr. Claudia Harsh is the Director of Integrative
Gynecology and a physician acupuncturist at the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio.
After receiving her M.D. from the University
of Cincinnati in 1985, she
became a board certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. Her degrees also include a
B.A. from the New College of Florida and a M.S. in Chemistry from Texas Tech University. Prior to joining
the Institute, Dr. Harsh founded Crescent Women's Medical Group in Cincinnati and was in
private practice as an ob-gyn for 14 years. Throughout that time, she became
progressively more interested in the use of integrative medicine to treat
difficult conditions including acute and chronic pain, fatigue, anxiety,
adolescent concerns and women's hormonal issues. This led her to explore
different aspects of mind-body medicine and study medical acupuncture under
Joseph Helms, M.D., through UCLA's College
of Continuing Medical Education.
She is a founding member, and currently the treasurer of the Ohio Chapter of
The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
Dr. Harsh is a founding organizer of
"Heart to Heart" - a 501(c)3 all-volunteer non-profit that offers support
to victims of domestic violence. In
addition, she teaches stress management techniques to incarcerated prostitutes
through Cincinnati Union Bethel. She is a Certified Grief Counselor and an
active participant and supporter of Life Success Seminars in Cincinnati. Her hobbies include music and writing.
